i brought “the brick” with me to the beach for valentine’s weekend and finally wrapped it up today… all 1386 pages, over a month early! i can’t say that it was the best book i’ve ever read, and i think that this particular translation (constance garnett) is supposed to be especially verbose, but i’m so glad i got through the whole thing! final verdict: too much war, not enough peace for my taste.
