this past weekend i flew to san francisco for the nike women’s half marathon and finished with a PR of 2 hrs 31 minutes! i attribute my success to the copious amounts of food (washed down with anchor steam, of course) the day before the race.
we literally ate 6 times in one day, but my one “non-negotiable” stop was swan oyster depot since it happens to be #3 on my 30 before 30 list. when you arrive, you almost always need to wait in a line. according to jess, this actually isn’t bad for a line here. maybe they knew i was coming. =) it took about 45 min for us to get in!

as you reach the front of the line, you get to peer through the window at some of the fresh seafood on offer that day… seafood lovers, prepare to start salivating!

inside, there’s space at the counter for maybe a dozen diners at a time. it’s a small, family run place, with a no-frills, “only-the-freshest-seafood” menu written up on the wall. jess, eric, and i were in heaven. poor marisa, who doesn’t like seafood, said she’d have chowder. what a good sport.

the rest of us decided on a platter of fresh new zealand oysters…

i actually didn’t care much for oysters until last year when i spent a few days in ireland. but now, i love them. can’t you tell?

we were too excited to eat it, so i didn’t get a “before” shot of the crab louie salad, but it was my favorite. at almost twenty bucks, it was worth every penny. it’s practically a big plate of fresh cracked crab meat with a bit of lettuce under it, served with a side of the special louie sauce. heaven! jess and eric liked it too…

we washed everything down with our favorite local beer, anchor steam. (i even got marisa to try a sip – i’m such a bad influence!) everything was delicious and i swear i walked out about 5 lbs heavier than when i walked in. what a day, and what a way to cross off #3!
